How We Pick New Indie Games
Fresh Indie Games covers indie games in the first hours after they launch on itch.io. Instead of listing everything, we publish at most 15 games a day and only those that pass a strict quality check.
What Gets Rejected
- Games published more than 72 hours ago, or older games that were re-published and only look new.
- Pages without a cover image or with fewer than three screenshots.
- Descriptions shorter than 300 characters.
- Adult or 18+ content.
- Games marked as AI-generated.
- Games whose name duplicates one we already cover.
How We Score Games
Every remaining game gets a score out of 100. Points come from being playable in the browser (20), having a trailer (10), five or more screenshots (10), a detailed description (10), a sensible set of tags (5), a released status (5), a developer with at least two earlier games (10), earlier games averaging four stars or more (15), an active devlog (5), a game jam entry (5) and appearing in itch.io's fresh list (5). Only games scoring 60 or more are published, best first.
How We Write Pages
Each page is written fresh from the developer's own information, never copied. We summarise what the game is, how to play it and who it suits, and we only state facts the developer has published. Every page links to the official itch.io page so you can play and support the creator directly.
